What is the ACT? How important is it?

In recent years, the ACT has become the most widely administered college entrance exam in the U.S. When making admissions decisions, colleges and universities consider applicants’ ACT scores in addition to a number of other factors, including GPA, extracurricular activities, personal statements, letters of recommendation, and interviews.

Read an article from MIT’s Dean of Admissions why prestigious schools like MIT want to see ACT scores.

What's on the ACT?

The test consists of four multiple-choice tests covering the subjects of English, Mathematics, Reading, and Science, and an optional Writing section. Students are given 3 hours and 35 minutes to complete the entire ACT, including the Writing section.

Should you take the ACT?

While the ACT is meant to measure what you learn in high school, the test itself can trip up even the best students. You’ll need exceptional focus, excellent time-management skills, and a familiarity with the exam’s structure to really master it.

IVY’D College Prep’s ACT prep programs are designed to give you all of the above. Our carefully-crafted curriculum and expert teachers will give you the confidence you need to reach your goal ACT score.
